Blueprint to a New & Better Life

I recently had the awesome opportunity to interview the amazing Rob White, author of A Second Chance at Success.  I’m intrigued by Rob because he went from being a school teacher, just getting by in life, to a wealthy real estate tycoon worth over $50 million.  It takes a special kind of person to shed one life in favor of a new life of extravagance and greatness. But, Rob White did it.  He shed his old life like a snake sheds its skin.  He visualized the life he wanted, and it materialized.  In a matter of fifteen years he amassed a fortune so big that most us could hardly comprehend it, and he did it with virtually nothing to start with.   Is this something that any of us are capable of?  Could I decide right now that THIS life is not good enough for me and I want a better one?  If I made that decision, is it possible to create the life I yearn for?  The answer is YES.  Listen up.

If you want all the secrets to shedding one life in favor of another, Rob’s book is a great place to start. This here is, what I consider, the most important.  Do not trap yourself into believing in who you already are.  Who you are right now (your I AM) absolutely must be an always evolving image of who you wish to be.  Too many people, in fact MOST people, believe that their I AM is already formed.  For example, “I am a middle aged, senior manager, with three kids, and I always make just enough to pay my bills, never really getting far in paying down the loan on my modest house, never mind putting away savings.”  Now, that I AM statement is a lot different than say, “I am an entrepreneur that takes risks and makes big money.  I have no debt, three homes all paid off, and making money comes easy to me.  I spend lots of time with my family because I control my own schedule.  I give back to the community and I totally love my easy, care free, life of abundance.”  These are two very different versions of someone’s I AM.  The secret to shedding your old life in favor of the new one is that you need to start living your new life, even while you are still in the old one.  It’s really important that you buy into the new version of your life and to do that it’s absolutely necessary that you don’t buy into the current version of who you are.  This is where most people get stuck.  The current version of who you are is easy to buy into because you can touch and feel it.  However, if you continue to buy into this version of you…well, I hope you enjoy the view because you aren’t going anywhere.  If however, you can step outside your current circumstances and start living as if you already have the life you desire, you are possibly in for a great ride, if you can stick to it.  Your mind will play tricks on you and will try to lure you back to the original version of who you are because it likes that version of you…it’s comfortable.  If you can take small steps and move forward to that new life, you will create small wins in creating that new life you want and desire.  When you have those small wins, your mind and body start to believe that the I AM version of you that you created is the real deal, and it will push you forward to that new life faster than you can even imagine.

My friend Dave is a good example of this.  My friend Dave is an entrepreneur living a life of a middle manager.  He did something really brave, that most could not even fathom.  He quit his job.  His middle manager job did not fit into the I AM that he was creating.  That’s a really bold move and many people would think Dave’s crazy for quitting his nice safe job.  I however say BRAVO Dave, quitting that job is one tiny step out of the thousands you will need to take to shed the old life and create the new.  Stay strong.  Every step you take to your new life, the one you envision is going to be just as hard as the first.  That’s why 99% of people are stuck in the life they have right now.  That’s why 99% of people can’t just quit their teaching job, like Rob White, to build a multimillion dollar real estate empire.  For the 1% that are bravely moving forward and shedding an old life for a totally new, unrecognizable, life of abundance, just remember this; just because most people cannot fathom the risks you take to shed your skin of old, and just because you have many, many, many difficult and challenging days ahead of you, doesn’t mean you are not on the path to amazing wealth, opportunity, and abundance.  It only means you are in the 1%.  Pick up your foot, take another step, keep moving.  There will be signs along the way to encourage you…they will serve to remind you that you are right where you are meant to be, like shortly after Rob White quit his teaching job and while walking down the street he found a book in the middle of a sidewalk, “How To Make a Million Dollars in Real Estate.”  Signs like these are no coincidence.  They are the light at the end of your tunnel.  That light, is your new life.  It’s worth the journey.

Dave Liniger, Businessman & NYT Best Selling Author

Dave Liniger, Chairman and Co-Founder of RE/MAX is a legend in business and in life.  After spending almost an entire year fighting for his life, Liniger shares his remarkable story in his newly released book, MY NEXT STEP – An Extraordinary Journey of Healing and Hope.  Please join us as we have a live conversation with an amazing leader, mentor, coach, and friend to millions in the real estate world.

About The Book:
My Next Step is a remarkable memoir of one man coming face to face with the darkest moments of his life and how, through his own drive and the unwavering support of family and friends, he never succumbed to despair. Dave Liniger had it all: four successful children, a lifetime filled with adventure, and a company he’d founded, RE/MAX, that became one of the most prominent real estate brands in the world and made him a success beyond his wildest dreams. He had served in the Vietnam War, parachuted out of planes, raced cars, and once even attempted to circumnavigate the world in a balloon. And then overnight his full and varied life almost came to an abrupt end. Doctors discovered he had a horrific staph infection along his spine that left him paralyzed from the neck down and in excruciating pain.

My Next Step chronicles how Dave found reserves of strength to fight through his pain. He drew inspiration from his wife, Gail, who had shown incredible grace and courage during her recovery from a tragic airplane crash twenty-nine years earlier. His guiding light was the mantra, “Just 10 steps.” If he could take 10 steps, he could take 20. This book speaks to anyone who has ever faced insurmountable challenges.
